How to Use MenuBaton
MenuBaton connects your whole restaurant on one platform: customers order from their phones, the kitchen sees every dish on a live display, staff get real-time alerts when food is ready, and you manage everything from the Restaurant Portal.
This guide walks you through setting up your restaurant and running it day to day.
1. Getting Started
- Create your account — open the Restaurant Portal and register with your restaurant name, email, and password.
- Verify your email — we send you a verification link. Click it (or use the Verify Email page) to unlock the portal.
- Start the service — open the Services page, pick the plan that fits your restaurant, and start with a free trial or subscribe right away. Every plan includes all features; plans differ only in how many tables and menu items you can have.
2. Set Up Your Restaurant
2.1 Settings
Open the Settings page and click Edit to configure your restaurant:
- Restaurant details — name and basic information shown to your customers.
- Currency — the currency used to display prices and charge customers.
- Languages — choose which languages are available to customers and to your team. Everyone can switch language from the menu and app screens.
- Pay on Order — when enabled, customers pay online at the moment they place an order. When disabled, orders go straight to the kitchen and customers pay at the counter.
- Tips — optionally let customers add a tip when they pay.
2.2 Build Your Menu
On the Menu page, create categories (for example Starters, Mains, Drinks) and add dishes to them. Each dish has a name, price, and photo. Changes go live for customers instantly — no reprinting, no delays.
You can also add price add-ons — extra fees or percentage charges (for example a service charge or tax line) that are applied automatically to every order.
2.3 Tables & QR Codes
On the Tables page, add a table for each physical table in your restaurant. Every table gets its own QR code — download it, print it, and place it on the table. When a customer scans it, your menu opens with the table already selected.
Your general menu link (without a table) is shown on the Dashboard — use it for your website or social media.
2.4 Add Your Team
On the Staff page, create accounts for your team. Each role has its own app:
- Chef — signs in at /chef to use the kitchen display.
- Staff — signs in at /staff to deliver dishes and serve tables.
- Cashier — signs in at /cashier to handle counter payments.
Share the username and password you set with each team member.
3. Daily Operation
3.1 Customers Order
Customers scan the QR code on their table, browse your menu on their phone, add dishes to the cart, and place the order. If Pay on Order is enabled, they pay online right away; otherwise the order goes straight to the kitchen and they pay at the counter later.
3.2 Kitchen Display (Chef)
Every order appears on the kitchen display the moment it is placed. Chefs see what's queued and what's cooking, and mark each dish ready when it's done — which instantly alerts the front-of-house staff.
3.3 Serving (Staff)
Staff see ready dishes in the staff app in real time, deliver them to the right table, and mark them served. When every dish in an order has been served, the order completes automatically.
3.4 Counter Payments (Cashier)
When customers pay at the counter, the cashier app lists unpaid orders by table. The cashier takes the payment and marks the order as paid.
3.5 Takeaway Orders
Walk-in customers who don't sit at a table can order takeaway at /takeaway — the order is placed under their name instead of a table. You can manage takeaway orders from the Take Away page in the portal.
3.6 Order History (Manager)
The Orders page in the portal shows every order — in progress, completed, paid, or unpaid — with full details of each dish, so you always know how the day went.
4. Online Payments
To let customers pay online when they order, connect a Stripe account on the Receive Account page — payments from your customers go directly to your own Stripe account. Then enable Pay on Order in Settings.
You don't need online payments to use MenuBaton. With Pay on Order disabled, orders flow to the kitchen for free and customers pay at the counter — the cashier app keeps track of what's unpaid.
5. Billing & Subscription
- Services — see your current plan, upgrade or downgrade, or cancel the service.
- Payment Method — add or replace the card used to pay for your subscription.
- Credits — buy credits in advance; they are used automatically to offset your subscription billing.
- Invoices — view and pay your invoices.
- Sub History — a full history of your subscription events.
